Analysis of roughcut

Although our roughcut is very far from how i imagine our final piece I feel with more thouragh editing; adding effects and adding or subtracting certain shots our final piece could look really good. The footage we got coverd a range of angles and the fact we shot most of our shots as base shots meant we had alot of choice at editing ensuring that we didnt have to piece bits and pieces together.

However after watching our roughcut I am aware that when editing we need to be careful not to have random clips in it for the sake of it and to be sure not to be repetitive. We shot these shots towards the end of editing which meant we have been trying to fit them in. I feel they look random and awkward and have suggested taking them out.

Our next step will be to edit the actual shots with various tools. When playing around with this I have found that it is easy to get carried away and not use tools that are conventional for our video genre so we will have to be careful when doing this to ensure that our video looks professional. On the shots such as these ones:

I feel are quite plain looking at the moment and need to be jazzed up with either differnt colours of some sort of movind effect. However I feel the first series of shots should be kept un-edited as when the beat drops thats when the edits should start showing a clear correaltion between the editing and the pace of the video.

Some of the shots look a bit grainy because of the lack of lighting in the shots. Such as this one:

To improve the quality of these shots and to make our video more believable I think it would be highly beneficial to us if we sharpened our shots and contrast in our editing. This will also make our videos stand out from others that have not done this giving it an individual look which I feel is a reflection on the genre of our music.
